How is disappearing for days without telling anyone a good thing? We've been worried sick about you! I got Derek to kick your door down because I thought you were dead inside your room from choking on your own vomit or something because you said you were sick... but you were never sick, were you? You lied.
[ He thought Isaac trusted him enough to tell him the truth. ]
[...oh yeah, he did tell Asahi that, didn't he. Isaac finds himself biting his lip under the scrutiny and tries to take a deep- no, that hurts, shallow breaths instead.]
...I dunno, I didn't think- [I didn't think you'd care] -I guess it didn't seem like a big deal.
[Well, he thought Scott would be angry about him for skipping work, but the rest of that? Who would have even guessed that he'd show up on his doorstep, kicking it down? Once again, Isaac is forced to reevaluate where Scott stands, try to wrap his head around someone caring so much to do something like that. Even though it was an inconvenience in the end- hell, even though it's about to bite him in the ass- he finds himself... a little speechless, to be honest.
I don't want you to get hurt. Hadn't Scott said something like that, way back when? And coming here, with Scott from the past, it's screwed everything up, but Isaac can still remember that, can still hear his voice, surprisingly audible in the loud music, as if he'd heard it seconds ago. It was the first time he'd ever heard those words.
Did he take it too literally? Is that why he decided not to tell him?
No, Isaac has to be honest with himself. It was just a matter of completely blowing him off. After everything he's done, and continues to do, Isaac can't- he doesn't know how to reciprocate a relationship like that. And the fact that Scott isn't yelling right now, he doesn't know what to do with that either.
So there's a long silence.]
...I went to try and help the gods. [Finally, as if he's admitting a dark secret.] They wanted us to go infiltrate the ice giant's castle and steal Freyr's soul. I figured, you know, I've gotten really strong with my powers. I was just... I didn't want you to worry.
[Pause. His voice is a little raw- partially from the smoke inhalation, partially from... well. This.]
I got my shift covered. I didn't think you'd notice otherwise.
[ Although Scott has yet to experience Isaac helping him at the lacrosse game, he's got that same look of pleasant surprise on his face, not that Isaac would be able to see that right now. But he's proud of Isaac because he left to do something good. ]
Why didn't you tell me? [ He might have worried less if he knew where Isaac went... Actually, probably not. ] I would have come with you... [ Except if Isaac is hurt even with the strength of his powers, Scott would stand no chance with his own. ]
You're hurt, aren't you? [ Scott can guess from the sound of Isaac's voice. ] How bad?
You had enough to worry about. The store, and Stiles and stuff.
[And, to be honest, Scott's right- he also went alone to protect them, in a way. Isaac wants to see what they're up against, once and for all, so he knows more about how to deal with it and how to prepare the others for it as best he can. Only one of them had to go, right? Might as well be him, he wants the fight anyway, if for no other reason than to clear his head.]
It's not bad. [It was pretty bad.] They, uh. They hit really hard.
[And Isaac sort of laughs here, dryly.]
Everyone was pretty much treated on the way back, but the high level healers spent all of their energy doing life or death stuff, you know? So I got the bones fixed, the bruising... not so much. Should be fine in a few days.
[ Scott realizes Isaac is obviously talking from experience, when he talks about how long the bruises will take to heal.
It's times like this Scott really wishes they had their werewolf abilities back. ]
I'll come see you after work. I had to throw away that soup but I can get some more that's fresh...
Sorry about the door. I guess I kinda overreacted... I'll find someone to fix it. Or you can even stay in Allison's room in Freya until it's fixed since she's not using it. It's room 301.
All her stuff is in my room. [ Hence why Scott's room has some girly touches to it. ] Her room is practically empty, she wouldn't mind you using it.
If you're too hurt to move to get food, someone's going to have to bring food to you. [ It's the least Scott can do for making Derek kick his door down. ]
[The sound of fabric over the feed as he shifts against the couch.]
I might just crash with Erica. She's just upstairs. Anyway, I can move, it's just a little sore.
[Bruises all up and down his torso? Just a little sore. He'd say he's had worse, but hell, he had worse three days ago when the bruises were covering broken ribs.]
I was joking, he's not going to hurt you. [ Scott hopes. He'll be in trouble with Scott if he does. ] The first time you were here, you went missing and we went looking for you, but you'd got sent home. I think he was afraid of that happening again.
[ Because as much as Derek prefers being alone, Scott knows he needs his betas, especially the one that stayed behind. ]
[Quiet, but- detached. Maybe Isaac is wrong- he has a feeling he might be- but it's never externally been about anything but power. Scott even commented on it, at one point. And, truthfully, Isaac accepted that going into it, and he accepts it now.]
voice;
Isaac! Where are you? We looked in your room but you weren't there-- [ and by "looked" he means broke into haha oops. ]
voice; 1/2
[Pause.
Long. Pause.]
-hang on.
voice;
[Guess who just got home!]
voice; 1/2
voice;
...Derek did.
voice;
[This is like coming home to find your place robbed. Why did she feel obligated to do that? Why the fuck did Derek kick down his door?]
I try to do one good thing and I come home and everything is- ransacked. Crap. I just- I- [pause.] -ugh. I need to lay down or something.
voice;
[ He thought Isaac trusted him enough to tell him the truth. ]

It's alright, I'll figure something out. I don't think Allison would want me touching her stuff, even if she isn't using it.
[The frown is evident in his voice when he speaks again.]
And you don't... have to bring me food or anything.
voice;

voice;
[He doesn't know if he'll ever get used to hearing that.]
Come on over.
voice;
voice;
He's actually slightly terrified of that.]
...yeah. If he hasn't.

[ Scott will leave it at that. ]
I have to go deal with a customer but I'll see you later, okay? Take it easy.
voice;
[Regardless, the call has given him a lot to think about.]
