[ yes great joke, being creepy. but scott's still amused despite all the peter-related uncertainty, and the deaton comment helps. ]

Deaton would probably like him. [ he totally goes in for the zen thing. the next part's said a bit carefully, and he's making an effort to not make it sound like an insult. ] He kind of reminded me of a dog.

[ or an animal, generally speaking. definitely not a werewolf. ] Did he mention the crazy ones to you? [ because hell if he remembers the exact term peter used. ]

hot mess. also wow this isn't going where it was meant to god peter!! so distracting

He had a weird name for them. [ ... well. ] It kind of sounded like werewolf, just... off. He said they're a perversion.

[ and like them. not in quite so many words, but scott's broad commentary about most of the wolves from beacon hills being angry had prompted peter to mention them.

it takes him a moment to work out the wording before he continues, and he's not looking at isaac when he does, clearly lost in his own thoughts. ]

Do you think we could be like that? [ it might be a stretch to catch his meaning. he's not talking about the crazy ones, because that's kind of a given - most of the wolves they've known have been just like that - but he can't quite bring himself to say it out loud: calm, pure. the absolute last things he'd expect from a wolf, but that's what he'd gotten from peter. ]

goddamn peters

I know. [ scott still sounds distracted, but the response comes easier than he thought it might. he knows they're not monsters. or they don't have to be; he's seen enough proof of that, despite the heavy evidence on the other side. it's not quite enough to keep him from dwelling on peter, what the wolf means to him - but he knows better than to let it drag him down. different worlds, different rules.

which is the thought that brings his focus back to the reason he called isaac to begin with. he's careful to keep his tone from being overly aggressive, but there's a surety there that makes it clear he's confident in his words. ]

We aren't. Which is why I think we should maybe— [ okay, mostly confident. ] I don't think we should hide it here.

[ wow dude you just made scott's argument for him in your own head. scott isn't about to judge isaac for judging, because he gets that this is slightly abrupt, but his tone's a bit deadpan this time. ]

Because we can't use it to help people if we can't tell them.

[ which is the real reason, and as far as scott's concerned the only reason - but he gets that he'll have to sell this a bit harder. ]

Remember how there were homeless angels and bear people here last time? You seriously think anyone's going to care about some werewolves? I ran into a superhero, like, two days ago.

[ and also told him he was a werewolf, but that's for another time. ]

[ it's something scott's incredibly aware of. in the end it'd taken backseat to being useful, protecting people, but he can't fault isaac for focusing on this. ]

I know. But you said it yourself, we're not monsters— we can prove it, right?

[ he sounds fairly convinced, but considering his own hang-ups with what they are it's only about ninety percent there. still, as much as this means to scott, this isn't just his secret. he can't force this on isaac, not when it's about both of them, when pack's a thing that's finally in his vocabulary. isaac's opinion matters. ]

I won't make you. And if you really think it'll put us at risk, I won't either. Just promise me you'll think about it.

[ scott wasn't expecting an enthusiastic agreement, and this is definitely better than a flat out refusal. which means instead of looking defeated, he looks like he's feeling reasonably accomplished. ]

Yeah.

[ the answer's a bit sheepish. dragging isaac out to talk business - it feels a bit... derek. ]

Don't worry. I won't do anything until you decide. [ a pause, then: ] Except that superhero guy kind of knows. But only about me, and I think we can trust him.

[ he totally got scott new shoes okay he's legit. ]

Hey, seriously. I'll be careful.

[ scott's the master of subtlety, he's got this. but in the interest of diverting focus elsewhere: ]

He controlled the elements. Like— quicksand, fireballs. It was intense, and he totally had a costume.

[ and then later he found him crying in the rain with a kitten, but it was still a pretty badass first impression. ]

Some drunk guys were trying to beat him up.

[ this doesn't actually sound that impressive anymore, does it. ] But the point is that we have superheroes. I'll introduce you, maybe we can all go fight crime together.

[ the line's delivered completely straight, but the fact that it's anything but becomes clear a second later. ]

We could always get costumes too. You know, to keep our identities a secret?
