[Isaac has become a very important person in her life here. He was the first one to find her and maybe that's why she latched onto him, but she knows that it's more than just him being an anchor for her. Maybe it's that she feels like she's shared so much of herself with him and she still doesn't know a lot about him. Maybe it's because she feels like she's still working to earn that trust and it's something she wants to have because she knows back home it's just given to her.
Back home she's pack and he's important to her, but on a different level. It's clear to her that it's different back home. Just the way Isaac had looked at her when he was from the future gave her a clue as to how different their friendship had developed.
She's a different person and she knows she deserves friends like the ones she has now. The way her life has been, in a way, she feels like she's owed that.
And that -- that sense of deserving it, the sense that this is what she should have is why she needs Isaac so much, because she needs to know that even if she's different she's still going to be pack.
By the time he pulls away from the hug, she's letting the day wear on her. She gives a half smile, mostly crooked, at the way he fixes her hair. She sees him smile at her and she knows everything will be okay. Everything will be fine.]
Stiles was sleeping, but he's probably more awake now. Elena is going to come, and I'm just waiting to hear from Sam.
[She fights a yawn off, turning to glance around the apartment.]
I'm gonna grab a few more things and then we can go.
[And Isaac takes a deep breath, pulling away from her. There hadn't been any deep, insightful conversations between the Erica he knows and himself. The general idea of his abuse was one the entire pack was remotely aware of, but it was just... one of those things that nobody spoke of unless it was necessary.
It doesn't cross his mind to recount it to Erica. It doesn't occur to him to tell anyone at all, really- things like that are best left behind closed doors, and he's never wanted sympathy, only power, only control. He's given her as much as he feels comfortable with, which is still next to nothing, but she's heard him cry in his sleep and he knows that she knows there's something more.
It's going to stay like that, at least for awhile. There are crises upon crises that they've been dealing with, and this explosion has just proven that there's no time to sit and talk about their feelings.
So Isaac moves toward the door, sends a few more messages to people, and waits for her.]
[Sam replies while she's grabbing the last minute things. She stops so that she can give him an address and tell him that she wants him to be there with her. There's a chance he might not, but she's hopeful that he shows.
The final things tucked into the pockets of her jacket and she returns to Isaac.]
Ready. [In a small way, even if it's not exactly small, she's ready for a lot. Mostly the ice, but also whatever else is out there and unknown to her. She's been told she's dead -- there can't be much more left to say.]
[Isaac nods and moves to grab one of the pillow cases that she brought, holding the door open for her and locking it behind them both when they're in the hallway. The walk to Baldr is a long one, and it's quite cold, despite the jackets and the scarves. Every once in awhile, they come across a patch of ice that can't be avoided, and Isaac builds little shadow bridges over them.
They don't really talk about their earlier conversation. Isaac isn't entirely sure if there's anything he can say.]
[She knows the walk to Baldr, but it's weird to see it slowly being covered in ice. She worries about the animals in the petting zoo, unsure of what would happen to them. She's been practicing her power nearly every day with them and to lose that... to think that she's used them for that only to have them turn to little petting zoocicles... it makes her upset for a moment.
At some point during the walk, Erica shifts the pillowcase of things over to her other hand and she reaches to hold onto Isaac's hand. It's not PDA or anything like that, but the quiet gets to her and she knows that the small gesture is better than any reassuring words.]
[The rest of the trip goes pretty much in silence, with both of them wrapped up in their own concerns. Isaac is surprised when Erica reaches out to touch him, but he doesn't pull away. After a moment, his fingers slip against hers and he's thankful for what little reassurance this offers.
Everything is going to be okay, somehow. They'll make it through this intact.]
