[Luckily, the house is empty when he gets back, and Isaac is more or less expecting the knock on the door. When Derek wants something, he can be kind of a dick about following through until he gets it, and Isaac has tried to fight him too many times to think that he can dissuade his former alpha.
So, he moves to answer the door with a sigh, wearing an overlarge sweater that manages to hide the worst of the bruising. There are still bags under his eyes though, his face somewhat more ashen than it should be.]
[Derek -- he's not just forcing his way into Isaac's place for fun. There's a reason why he's here.
So many things have been getting to him, lately. The pressure and the stress of the city are starting to overwhelm him, yeah, but it's more than that. It was that dream, the fire, it felt so real. That's the main reason why he's here. He just needed to step out of his head and see someone else, and he chose Isaac, because Isaac's the one who will always, always drop everything to deal with him. Isaac's a mess, he just came back from the fucking dead, and Derek's just using him to take his mind off of his own problems. Even though he's trying to change, that's still the kind of guy he is.
But fuck, Isaac looks like shit. Derek hasn't seen him so rundown and beaten since before he was a werewolf, back home. The sight makes his jaw clench and his eyes darken, and he thinks of Isaac's father, and-- god, he shouldn't have come over.]
You look awful.
[He walks in, shuts the door behind him, and he doesn't so much survey Isaac as he scrutinizes him. He eyes the dullness of Isaac's skin and the withdrawn croakiness to his voice and this all pretty much just makes him feel worse.]
[Okay, so he knows he doesn't look amazing, but Derek's words are so sudden that Isaac is taken aback a little, and he tilts his head toward his former alpha, his eyes narrowed slightly.
He shouldn't take offense to that, not really- he knows this, but he still can't help himself, especially after Derek just barges in out of nowhere and starts staring at him like that. It's disconcerting and it makes him feel uncomfortable in his own skin, at least, moreso than he had already felt.]
Yeah, nice to see you alive and kicking too. You don't exactly look like sunshine either, you know.
