[ Honestly, if Allison was doing it for that reason, it was completely unintentional and subconsciously. She literally just meant it as an explanation for why she wants space from Scott because it's not about not loving him anymore. It's not about feeling like he's responsible for her mom's death - even here, knowing that if her mom hadn't gone after Scott she'd still be alive doesn't have her blaming him at all - and it's certainly not because she wants to be single or wanted to hurt him. It's because she needs to deal with everything, from her mom's death to being manipulated by Gerard, and she isn't so sure she can do that while still dating him.
Especially here. He'd been such a support system for her when Stiles spilled the beans that she knows leaning on him now wouldn't do her any good.
